ENVIRONMENTAL SPECIALIST
Anja van Deventer

Anja van Deventer is an experienced environmental scientist with over 21 years in South Africa’s mining industry. A specialist in ecological restoration and sustainable rehabilitation, she’s recognised internationally for her expertise serving as a UNCCD expert and Director of the Land Rehabilitation Society of Southern Africa.With a Master’s in Environmental Science and a background spanning environmental management, mine closure planning, and waste systems, Anja has led ESG and TNFD-aligned projects across Africa. Her past roles include senior positions at Petra Diamonds, De Beers, and OMI Environmental Solutions.Fluent in English and Afrikaans, and with a business coaching diploma from UCT, Anja brings deep technical knowledge and strategic insight to Natural Evolution Group.
William brings 18 years of experience in mine rehabilitation, closure planning, and sustainable post-mining transitions. With an M.Sc. in Economic Sedimentology and a Graduate Diploma in Mining Engineering, he blends geological expertise with practical leadership in mine closure.As former Mine Manager at De Beers Namaqualand Mines, William oversaw full-scale rehabilitation, municipal handovers, and infrastructure repurposing. His earlier roles at De Beers and Namdeb include Mineral Resource Manager, Site Manager, and Senior Geologist.Skilled in cross-functional integration—from safety and HR down-scaling to asset retirement and community development—William is a specialist in delivering compliant, sustainable, and strategic closure outcomes aligned with Natural Evolution Group’s mission.
